GOA: IN SUMMER, GOA GETS RAIN ALERT – PORT DEPT ISSUES WARNING TO VESSELS IN SEA

As the weather in Goa witnessed a sudden change, the ports department has issued warning to all vessels in the sea over the possible deteriorating of weather.

While cruise vessels, passenger vessels and water sports operators are asked to stop operations until further orders, off shore casinos, barges and fishing vessels are asked to be vigilant.

“In view of the port warning received for Maharashtra-Goa coast for the next 24 hours from Regional MET Department, Mumbai and likelihood of the weather deteriorating further all cruise vessels, passenger vessels and water sports operators are instructed by the Captain of Port Department to stop operations until the warning signal is lifted or further orders.  Casino vessels to monitor their moorings and be vigilant for any deterioration of weather and take appropriate actions, Barges and fishing vessels proceeding to sea are cautioned to navigate with all necessary precautions in view of the expected deteriorating weather,” the warning notice issued by the Captain of Ports states.

It is also informed that all these vessels to keep hoisted signal NO DC-I RPT DC-I at Ports from Dahanu to Mormugao off Maharashtra- Goa coasts. 

As per information from the neighbouring state, rain/thunder showers are expected in many parts of Maharashtra, Konkan region and isolated places of Goa at least till March 19.
