Hundreds of mining dependents, gathered at KTC bus stand Panaji, have blocked the traffic flow to the city causing major vehicular congestion.

Mining dependents this morning arrived at Bus stand as part of their ‘chakka jam’, demanding continuation of iron ore activities in the State, which are suspended since March 16.

Heavy police force is in action.

As the protestors demanded to walk all along the city to later assembly at Azad Maidan for public meeting, they are stopped by the Collector Neela Mohanan and police, as it is in violation of section 144 of CrPC which is currently imposed.

This has resulted into skirmish between police and agitators, who have now blocked the main road entering the city.
