ORE TRANSPORTATION RESUMES

Panaji (Goa) After a gap of five days, the iron ore transportation activities have resumed in the State.

State Mines department has allowed transportation of ore, lying outside the lease areas and for which the royalty was paid by the lease holders since today.

The ban on transportation of ore came into effect from 7.00pm on March 15 while the mining operations were suspended from March 16.

Director Mines Prasanna Acharya said that following legal opinion from the Advocate General, the department has allowed transportation of such ore by the lease holders. 

“Ore lying outside the lease areas and for which royalty was paid before March 15 is allowed for transportation,” he said.

Almost 10 million tons of fresh production was reported during the current financial year. The total royalty collected so far is Rs 250 crores.
