Panaji (Goa) The meeting between Congress leader Girish Chodankar and BJP legislator Michael Lobo in a city hotel has sparked political speculations on the backdrop of chief minister Manohar Parrikar’s absence from the State.

Though officially, none of the leader confirmed that the meeting had any political angle, source stated that both of them were in a meeting for over an hour. Lobo is apparently unhappy with the treatment meted out to him by BJP in Parrikar’s absence.

Sources close to Calangute legislator stated that the legislator might split from BJP and will field his candidates in four constituencies including Saligao, Mapusa and Siolim.

Lobo was not available for his comments but when contacted Chodankar claimed their meeting as “sheer coincident.” “We met by coincident. I was waiting for someone there and he happened to bump into me, that’s all,” he said.

The deputy speaker seems to be drifting away from BJP which could be seen with his body language during the recent meeting chaired by Union minister Nitin Gadkari to discuss about mining issue in a five star hotel.

He walked out three times from the meeting for the causal walk into the lobby of the five star hotel even as mining issue was being discussed.
