Sanvordem (Goa): Town and Country Planning Minister Vijai Sardesai who went to the site of the bridge which collapsed yesterday at Sanvordem has assured that the unsafe bridges would be dismantled.

“The work of preparing a list of dilapidated bridges and then dismantling them will be taken seriously,” he said.

Sardesai said that the state government will work on safety audit of the bridges and those which are unsafe and not used by commuters would be dismantled. “We will never risk lives of our citizens. Total audit will be done of such bridges,” he said.

The Minister also visited the people who were rescued yesterday and are currently being treated at district hospital in Margao. Total 14 people were rescued after the bridge collapsed.
