Panaji (Goa): Senior Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) leader Lavu Mamlatdar has strongly opposed any move to forge alliance with BJP during upcoming municipal election on April 29.
MGP President Deepak Dhavalikar had reportedly expressed the possibility of having an alliance with BJP for the Ponda Municipal Council election. The last election was fought together by both the parties but the alliance had bitter fight during the tenure.
“Most of the members of central committee of MGP are against forging alliance with BJP during Ponda municipal council election. We feel that it would be wise to go alone for the polls,” Mamlatdar told The Neutral View today.
He said that the MGP will field its own panel for PMC which will be victorious as party has a strong base in this area. Mamlatdar said that the Central Committee will meet during the second Saturday of next month to decide on going alone in PMC polls.
