State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane will on Wednesday call on Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis proposing for signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two States over charging of patients at Goa Medical college and hospital (GMC).

Speaking to reporters today afternoon, Rane said that there is no question of government backing out from charging out-stationed patient at any cost. “As a health minister of Goa I have to look after the interest of the people of Goa and hence there is no question of me going back to my decision of charging non-goan patients at any cost,” he said

Rane said that both the States are ruled by BJP government and will work out solution.

“I am meeting Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis tomorrow. I am going to insist for signing of MOU between the two states to resolve the issue. It is a minor issue and will be resolved,” Rane said.

Minister said that State is going to put across several proposals including maintaining corpus fund with GMC. “But the simplest way is whether we can get GMC empanelled with medical insurance scheme that they offer. I am ready to accept the rates they have already finalized so that we can pass on the benefit to the patients visiting from Maharashtra immediately,” he stated.
