NEW DELHI: India’s overall medal tally at the 2018 Commonwealth Games has increased to 20 with ace pistol shooter Heena Sidhu winning gold in the women’s 25m pistol (Precision/Rapid) finals at the Belmont Shooting Centre on Tuesday. Three more medals have been assured for India later this week, with boxers Amit Phangal and Naman Tanwar having advanced into their respective semi-finals scheduled for April 13 and the men’s hockey team moving into the semi-finals with a 2-1 victory over Malaysia. NEW DELHI: Decorated shooter Heena Sidhu has won her second medal of the 2018 Commonwealth Games, taking gold in the women’s 25m pistol (Precision/Rapid) finals at the Belmont Shooting Centre on Tuesday. The 28-year-old – recipient of the Times of India Sports Awards (TOISA) Shooter of the Year award in February for her success in 2017 – shot a CWG record 38 to cap off a dominant performance in the eight-member final. 3. CWG 2018: Paddlers join party with win over Nigeria
CHENNAI: The Indian paddlers are unstoppable at Gold Coast. After the women’s team’s gold medal show on Sunday, it was the turn of the men to rise to the occasion. The team comprising Sharath Kamal, G Sathiyan and Harmeet Desai blanked Nigeria 3-0 in the team event final. 5. IPL broadcaster worried about impasse on Club House issue
NEW DELHI: The official broadcaster of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is concerned about the impasse between the civic authorities and the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) over the club house building at the Ferozeshah Kotla. While doing a recce of the Kotla for relocation of the production unit, the broadcaster and tournament management staff were told by the Delhi Daredevils that Hill B, which is located on one of the sides of the old club house, will be now relocated for the make-shift commentary box and it won’t be behind the stumps. CHENNAI: Various Tamil groups protesting over the Cauvery issue on Monday demanded that the authorities cancel the Indian Premier League (IPL) match to be held in Chennai on Tuesday. At a time when the police are busy making arrangements to secure all roads leading to M A Chidambaram stadium and screening of spectators, apprehending protests, Tamil group Thamizhaga Vazhvumurai Katchi (TVK), led by T Velmurugan, has issued a veiled threat, stating that it will not be responsible for any untoward incident against the cricketers. 7. Pep To Become The Highest Paid Manager In Football
LONDON: Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will reportedly become the highest paid manager in football after agreeing a new deal worth a whopping £20 million a year. Guardiola is believed to have met City owner Sheikh Mansour and chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak in Abu Dhabi last month, and confirmed to the club’s bosses he will sign the new contract.
