Margao (Goa): The Tribal Welfare Minister Govind Gawade has promised to clear the issues of the Forest Act and implement it by December.
The Minister at a meeting held in South Goa told the officials to clear all pending issues of the Forest Rights Act before December and slot it for implementation in the same month.
“The problems of the tribals and the delay in the implementation of the Forest Rights Act is being looked at seriously and we are working to get the act implemented by December. The rights of tribals to cultivate the fields in the forest areas they dwell will also be bestowed” said Tribal Minister.
Relevant authorities like the Forest department officials, Additional and Deputy Collector were present at the meeting. The Minister aimed at taking an insight into the nitty-gritties of the Forest Rights Act and also to find out the bottlenecks in getting the act into service. Minister Gawade also attempted to find out the status of finalisation of the Act and also set a time frame of December to get the Act in service.
