GMC ASKS SENIOR CARDIOLOGIST DR JAGAN HANUMANTHU TO RESIGN

Panaji (Goa) Health department has sought resignation from senior cardiac consultant Dr Jagan Hanumanthu who was attached to Goa medical college and hospital after he was found registered at one more institution in Telangana.

The action was taken after  Medical Council of India (MCI) inspection had found that Dr Hanumanthu  was yet to be relieved as a professor and Head of Department from another college in Telangana.

When contacted, State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane confirmed the directed the government to accept his resignation and readvertise the posts.

 A senior official from State Health department said that registering at two places has been considered as illegal as per the MCI guidelines. The department is also examining how it was skipped during verification of his documents that he was also registered at another college in Telangana.

GMC has pulled up its sleeves to improve functioning of all its departments including Cardiology by introducing new measures and strengthening the expertise.
