PANAJI

The opposition Congress in Goa on Tuesday criticised the state government for turning a blind eye towards the uncontrolled casino industry in the state.

Speaking to the media persons, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) spokesperson Sidhanath Buyao said that the casino industry had been violating laws blatantly as it was pampered by the state government for the reasons best known to the general public. He also brought to the notice a video which is being circulated on social media in which casino security officers were beating up tourist on one of the casinos.

”The casino industry has been holding the state to ransom, specially in Panaji, where few of their offices have sprung on footpaths.
While the kiosks on the footpath were removed due to the high court order, the casino offices stand tall there, with the blessing of the government,” alleged Sidhanath Buyao.
