COMMITTEE FORMED TO MONITOR NIPAH VIRUS INFECTION IN GOA

The Goa Health Department on Wednesday formed a committee to monitor Nipah virus in the state and asked all hospitals in the state to maintain strict vigil.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane held a meeting with the officials of Health Department to review situation emerging out of spread of the deadly virus in Kerala which resulted in the deaths of 11 people.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Rane said if there were any guidelines from the Centre with respect to the virus, they would be implemented. He said the committee would comprise Health Secretary, epidemiologist, Director, Health Services, Dean, Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Deputy Director, Under Secretary I and II, Head of Department of Medicine.
