Opposition Congress in Goa on Thursday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing concerns over resumption of mining in the state which has been closed from March 16 this year.
In a letter written to the Prime Minister, copies of which were shared with media, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Girish Chodankar said,”We bring to your kind notice that the judgement and order of honorable Supreme Court in the Goa Mining matter has brought an economic catastrophe to the State of Goa. It may be noted that the BJP-led State Government has been a complete failure which is running without Chief Minister for more than 100 days.
The resumption of the mining issue is concerned and that it was owing to the acts of the BJP led State Government that the State has been witnessing turmoil as regards to the mining industry and the economy of the State.”

In 2012, the state government closed the mining industry which was also followed by the honourable Supreme Court judgement in the matter, he alleged that the BJP Government headed by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar was only making false promises to the people of Goa without providing any solution despite BJP being in power art Central and State since closure of mining seven years back.
