Deputy Collector Shashank Mani Tripathi has ordered Old Goa police to investigate into the matter of fraud ‘samaj certificates’ which were being submitted by a Vasco-based person.

The complaint was filed against one Andrew D’Cunha, who was issuing certificates in the name of Christian Association of Backward Classes by St Cruz based social activist Domnick alias Inacio Pereira.

The same certificate was considered as a base by the state authorities to issue Samaj certificates due to which several people had contested recent panchayat election from the reserved wards.

“Find enclosed herewith the complaint received from Inacio Domnic Pereira on the above-cited subject. In this connection, you are hereby directed to inquire the matter and take necessary action from your end,” Dy Collector Tripathi has ordered.
