Tanushree Shadani and Shourya Joshi starred in the Sub Junior Badminton Ranking Tournament, organised by Shuttlers Club in collaboration with Goa Badminton Association and the Sports Authority of Goa, winning double crowns each.
In the championship finals held at Indoor stadium, Campal, Panaji, Tanushree won both the Girls singles titles while Shourya emerged victorious in the Under 15 Boys singles and doubles categories.
Shourya, fresh from his wins in Dubai and Bahrain, was full of confidence as he eased past Rudra Dukle to win the Boys Under 15 singles title with a 21-11, 21-9 score line. Shourya then teamed up with Om Parodkar to win the Boys under 15 Doubles, beating the top seeds Rudra Dukle and Aryaman Saraf 14-21, 21-16, 21-13 in an exciting match which went the whole distance.
In the girls section, Tanushree Shadani was the pick of the players, winning the Under 13 and Under 15 singles titles with comfortable ease. Showing a much improved performance from last season, Tanushree beat Aakanksha Tiwari 21-13, 21-12 to win the Under 13 singles title while she was in cruise control against Siya Kakodkar beating her 21-12, 21-7 in a one-sided under 15 finals.
A stylish Yash Desai, who had earlier completed a marathon 3 sets win over Harsh Mane in the semi finals, beat Rudra Phadte 21-15, 21-18 to pocket the Boys Under 13 singles title in an engaging final played between the two rising ten-year-old youngsters. Rudra made amends for his loss later on when he along with Sarvadnya Khandeparkar romped home to a 21-15, 21-16 win over the top seeds Yash Desai and Harsh Mane in the Under 13 Boys doubles.
In Girls doubles, it was double delight for Siya Kolwalkar. In Under 13 Girls, Siya and her partner Soumya Lotlikar beat Tanushree Shadani / Disha Dutta 21-16, 21-16 while Siya and Rhea Kanji upset Siya Kakodkar and Rhucha Bhobe 21-16, 21-11 in the Under 15 Girls doubles finals. Trisha Joshi, Malaika Lobo, Sanjana Gurav and Abhishek Swamy emerged as Promising Players of the tournament.
