The  North Goa Collector,  Nila Mohanan, on Thursday wrote to the Public Works Department (PWD) seeking an explanation, after a couple on two-wheeler fell into a pit at St Cruz that was reportedly dug up by the PWD. The said work which was carried out by PWD was in violation of an order passed by the government which prohibits digging and cutting of roads during the monsoon till July 13.

The couple, Inacio Pereira and his wife Andrea met North Goa collector Nila Mohanan and requested her to commence an inquiry and take action against PWD officials who are responsible for this error. Mohanan has promised the couple that she will look into the matter and, if required, suitable action will be taken against the PWD officials after a reply from the department.
