The ketamine drug raid has, till now, led to the arrest of 11 people, including two British nationals, a Canadian national and a Vietnamese.
According to information available from reliable sources, the further investigation into the matter enabled the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials to know that the Vietnam-origin accused is a convicted killer. The 38-year-old Ken Nguyen had been sentenced to life for murdering a rival gang member, in February 1999 outside a nightclub in Vancouver.
According to a DRI officials, he was granted parole to travel to Vietnam in 2015 and didn’t return to Canada. Ken Nguyen had entered India using a Vietnamese passport.
During his interrogation, Nguyen revealed that he came to India on request of another accused in the case, Jimi Sandhu, who is also a notorious gangster and was charged with stabbing a member of a rival gang in 2014. However, charges against Sandhu were stayed and he was eventually deported to India. For the past few months, Sandhu was running the ketamine factory.
