MISCREANT DESECRATES STATUES AT ST. CLARA’S CHURCH IN ASSONORA

Mapusa police have arrested one migrant allegedly involved in the desecration of St. Joseph Vaz statue at St. Clara’s church in Assonora. The alleged accused also damaged the grotto of Mother Mary and car of the priest as well as stoned the windows of neighbouring houses.  

Speaking to reporters, the priest of the church said: “When I went out, I noticed that the statue of St. Joseph Vaz, the grotto of Mother Mary, my car, the lamps on the compound wall and the cemetery lights were damaged.  I came to know that the miscreant was caught by our neighbours and handed over to the police.”

“It is known that the person is from Bihar and I hope that the police will get to the root of the problem and find out who sent him and on what purpose,” added priest.
