Ritviz Parab (2235) and Niraj Saripalli (2179) have taken sole lead at the end of the fourth round of Goa State open FIDE rating senior chess championship 2018 by winning all the five rounds.
It was an exhausting time for the players in the 5th round as the competition level is going high. Niraj Saripalli and FM Ameya Audi had a furious battle on the top board for four long hours, and finally, Niraj Saripalli upset the top seed FM Amey Audi in 68 moves with White pieces .
On the second board, Ritviz Parab outplayed Devesh Anand Naik(1688) with black pieces in KINGS INDIAN OPENING in 44 moves to lead along with Niraj Saripalli.
2nd seed CM Leon Mendonca(2241) with 4.5 points defeated Aryan Raikar on the 3rd board.
Lower seed Parsekar Anirudh(1645) also with 4.5 points showed an excellent form after he drew with 2nd seed Leon Mendonca in the 4th round and surprised 5th seed Om Barde in the consecutive 5th round.
The 6th round will be the clash of titans as both the soul leaders are going to face each other.
Tomorrow the 6th round will start at 9:30 am. The tournament is organised by Quepem Taluka Chess Association under the aegis of Goa Chess Association at CADA hall Curchorem-Goa.
