22 CASES OF ATM THEFTS REGISTERED IN GOA DURING LAST 4 YEARS

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today said that 22 cases of thefts had taken place in ATMs during the last four years and 30 persons had been arrested in connection with the crime during the same period.
 
In a written reply to a question tabled by BJP MLA from Vasco  Carlos Almeida, Parrikar said that four cases of theft were registered and six accused were arrested in 2015, two cases of theft registered and one accused arrested in 2016, 12 cases registered and 20 accused arrested in 2017 and four cases registered and three accused arrested in 2018 (till June 30).
 
Parrikar said, ’round the clock patrolling is maintained by police staff through ‘robot, PCR Vans, motorcycle patrolling. Security advisories have been issued to all the banks and financial institutions regarding security measures for protection against debit, credit card cloning at ATMs. The bank managers have been advised to install CCTV cameras and to keep security guard in the banks as well as ATM premises.’
