GOVT HAS NOT FRAMED ANY HOUSING POLICY SO FAR: MINISTER

Goa Housing Minister Jayesh Salgaonkar on Friday informed State Legislative Assembly that the government did not frame any housing policy so far.
 
In a written reply tabled in the state Assembly in response to a question asked by Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar, the minister said, ”The Government has not framed any housing policy so far. The government had constituted the steering committee for framing the Housing and Habitat Policy in the year 2010.”
 
”The Goa Housing Board develops its land for housing schemes to meet the housing needs of the people under various categories such as EWS, LIG, MIG & HIG and allotment of plots/tenements is made as per the provisions of Housing Board Act, Rules/Regulations/Schemes framed there under,” he said.
 
The Goa Housing Board was taking up projects at various places such as Xeldem-Quepem, Canacona, Colvale, Bicholim, Davorlim, Sancoale, etc for people belonging to EWS, LIG, MIG, HIG category, he said, adding the Board was not providing any loan facility, however, the Board provided assistance to seek loan from the financial institutions.
