High Court has directed Govt to curb illegal sand extraction in Goa. HC has directed Mines dept to set up a flying squad and a committee to monitor illegal sand extraction. The HC in its directions also said that during monsoons, when there is a ban on sand extraction, the committee will have to study possible ways to regenerate sand. 

The HC has given six months time to fulfil these directions. The squad is also expected to have a functional boat for effective monitoring.

Next hearing is scheduled on 10th September.
