Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Monday appealed to the public in the state to donate for relief work in flood-hit Kerala.
In a statement issued here on Monday, Parrikar, who is currently undergoing treatment for advanced pancreatic cancer in a Mumbai hospital, asked Goans to reach out to Kerala, where more than 400 people have died on account of flooding over the last few weeks.
“The state of Kerala has been devastated by floods and rain causing loss to human life, destruction of properties, roads, etc.” Parrikar said.
“This is a human tragedy and Goans should reach out to our brethren in this hour of crisis,” the Chief Minister said while announcing the setting up of a special bank account ‘Chief Minister of Goa Kerala Relief Fund’.
