Goa Governor Mridula Sinha paid a visit to the sewerage treatment plant at Saligao in North Goa on Tuesday.
During the visit, she interacted with the workers about their safety concerns.
Thereafter, she had a meeting with the officials and discussed the function and operation of the plant.
Domnic Fernandes, OSD, SWM Cell, during the discussion informed that more than 150 tonnes of garbage is treated every day which is beyond its capacity and during some occasion like tourist season workload increases to 200 tonnes also.
He said the workers who are working on the plant are provided with safety and security equipments besides paying due attention towards hygiene and health of the workers.
