MAPUSA MARKET SHOPKEEPERS FILE FIR AGAINST MMC CHIEF OFFICER

Protesting against municipality’s inability to deal with illegal encroachment by vendors in streets and parking places, the shop owners of Mapusa market shut their outlets for a few hours on Friday.

The shop owners gathered in the market and shouted slogans against Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) chief officer Clen Madeira.

The protesters then made their way to Mapusa police station and filed an FIR against Madeira for criminal negligence.

Mapusa Merchants Association president Ashish Shirodkar said that the negligence of MMC and chief officer has led to chaos in Market which results in quarrels between shop owners and street vendors.
