Tell us something about yourself

I’m the kind of person who never takes anything for granted. I always make it a point to recognise everything I have in my life and be grateful for it. Even at times when I inevitably feel exhausted and dejected because of whatever life may have thrown at me, I make it a conscious effort to not say “why me?” but rather, “try me”. I’m of the belief that the only way you can truly be happy, is by truly being grateful. On a lighter note, I’m someone who enjoys travelling and discovering new places and meeting new people. It just means acquiring a multitude of new experiences and exploring new ideologies because as it is famously said, everyone we meet knows something we don’t and that is why I love listening to people’s inspiring stories and learning from them. I would generally describe myself as someone who is perceptive, resilient and thoughtful, having just one main aim in life, and that is to spread happiness wherever I go.

What inclined you towards modeling? and are you looking forward to it as a full-time profession?

To me, modelling is being confident and feeling beautiful in your own skin. The idea that it stems from this very fact is what draws me to it. And I love new and different experiences. Trying something new and out of the mundane, is what I always look out for. So coupling that inquisitive nature, with the admiration for the field of modelling is the reason for my participation. The idea of pursuing modelling as a profession sounds exhilarating, and it’s a world I would most definitely love to be a part of.

What was your reaction when you came to know that you were selected for Neutral View Mr & Ms Goa 2018?

Of course, it was one of utmost joy and excitement! Knowing that I now get to live out this experience to the fullest and learn so much about this new world made me feel extremely happy. But it also brought in a new sense of dedication and responsibility to be persistent and to work hard and perform to the best of my abilities, because ultimately in any field in life, it is only the effort that you put in that counts because that leads you to wherever you want to be.

Have you participated in pageants before this?

Actually, in my first year in college, I participated in Miss Engico which was a sub-event of our annual college 2-day cultural fest called Renaissance. “Engicos” is what we students of the Goa College of Engineering call ourselves, and Miss Engico gave me my first ever brush with a pageant-like experience. I went on to win it for my department and I remember very vividly that feeling of pure joy. Of course, Miss Goa will be my first ever real pageant experience and I’m indeed looking forward to it.

How important is winning this pageant for you?

I think whenever I take part in any kind of a competition, the most important thing for me is doing my best, leaving no stone unturned in preparation and ultimately, giving it my all. It’s like that old saying goes, ‘practice like you’ve never won, and perform like you’ve never lost.’ At the end of the day, whatever the result, I want to be satisfied with my performance. And for me, whenever you take part in something, it’s only winning from there on, because you’re allowing yourself the opportunity to explore yourself and your capabilities. Even though technically, there can only be one winner, everybody goes home richer with knowledge and experience.

If you win Neutral View Ms Goa you will get a direct entry to Rubaru Miss India Elite, how are you preparing yourself ?

Of course, winning a title as prestigious as that of Miss Goa brings with it a lot of responsibilities. Being born and brought up in this beautiful and serene land of faith, music and love is stimulus enough to work towards bringing this state all the glory it deserves. And this would require every ounce of dedication one can muster. I would definitely be focused and motivated all along the way and never lose sight of the ultimate goal which is victory because it’s the least I could do for the state that has given me so much.

Are you feeling any pressure?

Well, to be honest, I’m looking at this event in my life as an opportunity to express myself and put forth my ideas and beliefs. And when I have a perspective like this about anything, it replaces the pressure, with earnest excitement and eagerness to begin the enriching journey. It’s like a process of self-discovery where you are made to explore various aspects of your thoughts and actions and given a platform to express it. I’m very enthusiastically looking forward to begin that journey.

Your biggest support in life

My parents, undoubtedly. I believe that even the strongest and the bravest get lost in the crowd without a firm support system helping them reach the heights of their abilities. My parents raised me to believe that I can achieve anything I set my heart and mind to and nobody has the right to tell me otherwise. I’m the captain of my ship and the master of my fate and no matter what I choose to do, they will always be there right by my side, guiding me and making sure I never feel like I can’t do it.

Any quote or saying that has profound impact on you?

“Those who think that sunshine brings happiness have never danced in the rain.” This is one of the many beautiful quotes that inspire me every day. It talks about being optimistic in every situation of life. Throughout the vicissitudes, you should be able to see the light or find a reason to make you happy. If you only think that happiness is associated with sunshine, try letting go of all your worries and dancing in the rain. Rain is normally associated with gloom and melancholy, but they can also be fun and exciting if you allow yourself to see these in them. Mould the situations your way and extract only the feelings of joys from them.

Any message for your friends and well-wishers

I think the most important message I’d like to convey is to not be afraid of failing. I’ve noticed a lot of times we tend to avoid certain situations or opportunities out of fear of failure. Take chances and go for it. It might end up being the best experience of your life. Especially in today’s day and age, with the vast influence of social media and constant online scrutiny, we tend to be extra cautious and never allow ourselves to explore new opportunities just because of the voice in our heads going ‘but what if I fail?’. Remember the saying; success is a result of good judgment, which is the result of experience, which is often the result of bad judgment. Successes and failures are part of life, embrace them in the right way and live life to the fullest.
