The State Junior Badminton championships 2018 concluded at Peddem Sports Complex with Aashrun Gautam, Lydia Barreto, Sushil Nayak and Arjun Fallary walking tall and emerging as major winners.

 

Aashrun and Sushil won double crowns each while it was triple glory for Lydia Barreto and Arjun Fallary. Yash Kunkolienker, Yasmin Sayed, Aryaman Saraf and Chetan Magdum had to settle for the runners-up places.

 

In Under 19 Boys singles, Aashrun Gautam ran into a stiff test before prevailing over Sushil Nayak, 21-14, 21-19.

 

In Under 19 Girls singles event, Goa’s top shuttlers, Lydia Barreto and  Yasmin Sayed, fought neck and neck with the former winning with a 21-19, 22-20 scoreline.

 

Sushil Nayak emerged Under 17 Boys singles winner with a 21-11, 21-17 win over Rudra Dukle while in Under 17 Girls singles finals, Lydia repeated her feat with a 21-11, 21-17 win over Yasmin Sayed.

 

In Under 19 Mixed doubles, Arjun Fallary and Lydia Barreto had to face a few tense moments in each set before romping home to a  21-19, 21-17 win over Sushil Nayak and Yasmin Sayed.

 

Arjun Fallary and Sushil Nayak put up a dominant display to win the Under 17 boys doubles title, ousting Aryaman Saraf and Chetan Magdum 21-10, 21-15. In Under 19 boys doubles, top seeds Aashrun Gautam and Arjun Fallary came up with the goods at the right time, bouncing back from one set deficit to upstage Yash Kunkolienker / Sushil Nayak  21-23, 21-15, 21-17 and bring the curtains down on the event.

 

 Nilesh Nayak (Sapna Group), GBA Officials Sandeep Heble (secretary), Deelip Halarnkar (observer) and Roy Ataide (SAG coach) graced the closing function.

 

Semifinals prizes in various categories were awarded to Aahana Nayak, Anup Kushwaha, Archit Bhargava, Arjun Fallary, Aryaman Saraf, Ayaan Shaikh, Chetan Magdum, Parth Kantak, Rajvi Sampat, Rhea Mallya, Rudra Dukle, Shubham Rivonker, Yash Halarnkar and Yash Kunkolienker.
