Calangute (Goa): Calangute police have arrested a Nigerian national by name Victory Igwe Amos in a narcotic raid conducted on Tuesday night at Porie ground in Calangute. Victor Amos, age 32 years, is a native of Lagos in Nigeria and currently residing at Calangute.
The accused was found in possession of 190 grams of ganja and 17 grams of charas, all worth Rs 50,000 in international market. In this connection the police have registered an offence under section 20(b)(ii)(A) of NDPS Act.
PI Jivba Dalvi during the evening hours had received a tip-off about a Nigerian national coming to sell drugs in Calangute area. After receiving the information, within a short period of time a team was formed comprising of PI Jivba Dalvi himself along with PSIs Rishikesh Patil, Videsh Pilgaonkar, Prajeet Mandrekar, Sitaram Malik and Constables Swapnil Simepurushkar, Vidyanand Amonkar, Dinesh Morajkar, Yogesh Bordekar, Amir Naik.
The raid was conducted successfully and the accused person was apprehended. This was the second successful narcotic raid conducted within a week by Calangute police.
During the interrogation it was revealed that the accused Nigerian is not having a passport or any other travel document. Hence after conducting the inquiry, today morning, the police have registered another offence against Victor Amos for overstaying in India under section 7(1)(3) of Foreigners Order Act 1948 R/w section 14 of Foreigners Act 1946 and section 3(2)(a) and 6(a) of Passport Entry into India Act.
Further investigation is in progress under supervision of SDPO Porvorim Serafin Dias and North Goa SP Karthik Kashyap
