CANACONA

A 42-year-old British national was raped by unknown persons near Palolem beach in Canacona, police said today.

The incident occurred at 4.30 a.m. when the victim was walking from the Canacona railway station to her rented home near Palolem beach, Police Inspector Rajendra Prabhudessai informed reporters.

“We have drawn up a list of suspects based on the description given to us. Investigations are on,” the official said.

Crime Branch officials are assisting the South Goa district police in the investigation. An FIR has been filed under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
