The Cabinet meeting on Thursday approved the Goa Compensation Scheme for women victim or survivors of sexual assault/ other crimes 2018.
A women victim compensation fund will be created and the compensation amount fixed under the scheme will range from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. The victim will be paid the compensation depending on the gravity of the crime.
Secretary of the state legal services authority will be operating the fund. In case of loss of life, the victim’s dependent will be eligible for at least Rs 5 lakh compensation up to Rs 10 lakh.
