Panaji (Goa): The always ‘lucky’ Digambar Kamat seems to be running out of luck with Principal Sessions Court issuing a non bail able warrant in the two year old watergate scandal.
The former chief minister failed to appear before the court when the matter came up for hearing today, and neither did his counsel made an appearance. Principal Sessions Judge Irshad Aga issued a NBW adjourning the case.
Kamat, identified as prime conspirator in the infamous Louis Berger scam has managed to escape arrest till date despite several attempts by crime branch (CB). The petition challenging his anticipatory bail before the Supreme Court (SC) is witnessing adjournment after adjournment. The CB had in 2015 chargesheeted seven accused including former PWD minister Churchill Alemao while a supplementary chargesheet against Kamat was filed thereafter.
The Congress’ legislature from Margao constituency has been lucky in the illegal mining scam too, probe of which is underway. He is currently on interim anticipatory bail in the case.
