Team TNV sits for a chat with Nakita as she prepares herself for a long and illustrious career in the world of modelling
I am very passionate when it comes to my dreams especially modelling because I grew up with the zeal of one day hearing those words “and the winner is Nakita Tania Fernandes “. My family and friends say I am Victorious just as my name means but I count them to be my support and strength for what I am today.. I have leant through tough lessons in life that made me realize I am not the person who can give up easily or for that matter not get up when I fall.
The one thing I strongly believe in is that “You owe yourself to become everything you’ve ever dreamt of ‘I’m doing my bit”.
Q Many congratulations for winning the title, how is the feeling?
The feeling is overwhelming, it’s great to know that my family and friends are proud of me, whenever I meet them the miss Goa runner up tag instils a sense of achievement and pride which I am grateful for.
Q Have you been in the modeling field before and how did you prepare for the pageant?
Yes I have been modelling for quite some time, pageants come and go but the preparations never stop, I also took part in Femina miss India 2018. That experience, how to work on making myself better, building my confidence, being aware of the current affairs and also being positive in every step, being skilful and focused is a must &hardwork is the fuel to success..
Q It was a rigorous three-day grind before declaring the winners, how did you manage to keep yourself motivated and deliver the best in you?
Well, I would say it was a grind, I took it up as a challenge that I knew I’d have a fair share in the results. My friends and family kept me in prayers and also wished the best for me. I knew what I wanted and my will power to have it was strong so I had faith in myself, overall the journey was memorable and I was guided well by my mentors.
Q How was your experience with the Neutral View Mr. and Miss Goa Pageant and how do you look at it as an opportunity for the Goan Youth?
My experience was truly wonderful; it’s difficult to actually pin it down because there was so much of learning, laughter, excitement and tears. We had training from one of the best choreographers, show directors, skin specialist and many more.
For the youth in Goa, I feel it’s a great platform for aspiring models because you never go with empty hands from here. The door towards your dreams opens once you are recognized as a participant itself and if you win what great joy to represent your state. The career in this field isn’t difficult to make if u have the right attitude and the passion towards it. There is a struggle but it’s all worth it in the end. Once you are a model life opens and gives many more opportunities.
Q What do you think are the qualities required to be Miss Goa?
Well, apart from beauty and a toned body, being confident, focused, responsible, disciplined, grateful and being humble.
Q Where do you see yourself five years from now?
That’s a tough one (smiles), I am the kind of person who is very open to variations and changes. I like keeping an open mind towards what I want. Of course, I see myself as a successful supermodel because that has always been my priority.. However, I will be completing my studies and will be doing what I love to do as my job.
Q Who has been your biggest support in life?
The biggest support in my life is my family and my close friends, they have been there with me through thick and thin, always been positive about my dreams and assured me that I can touch great heights as long as I have the will power and faith in myself and God. Being hardworking and humble is what they always told me to be no matter what.
My message to my well-wishers and supporters-
Remember how far you’ve come, not just how far you want to go. You are not where you want to be but neither are you where you used to be.
Today is the tomorrow, you’ve talked about yesterday. Dreams don’t come alive unless you believe and work hard and the barrier towards it will make u strong. Work very hard, pray, be healthy, stay positive Make it happen!
