State PWD minister Sudin Dhavalikar has stirred the controversy again by demanding complete ban on the slaughtering of cows in the State. Dhavalikar has said that even legally allowed butchering should be stopped forever.

Dhavalikar, who joined hands with the BJP to form the government in the State has supported the statement of RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat who has demanded ban on the cow slaughtering in the country.

The minister who is known for his right wing mentality said, “MGP as a part supports ban on cow slaughter in Goa.” He said, all kind of cow slaughtering even that allowed legally should be permanently stopped.

Going a step further, Dhavalikar has demanded closing down of State run Goa Meat Complex Limited, a facility operating at Usgao, which is a legally permitted abattoir.

Dhavalikar pointed out that cow has been considered sacred in Hindu religion and her killing hurts religious sentiments,

This is not for the first time that Dhavalikar has hit the controversy. Couple of years back he had demanded a ban on wearing bikinis on the beaches.
