This Thursday, 14th February Sachin Chatte will host the screening of the sci-fi romantic comedy, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind at Cinephile Film Club, Maquinez Palace, 6:30 PM. – 15 years since it is released, this love story is considered to be a masterpiece co-written by Charlie Kaufmann along director Michel Gondry.

Winner of the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind has popular actors like Kate Winslett and Jim Carrey – the story of the film though is anything but mainstream. In a nutshell, it is about two lovers who have decided to part and they ‘erase’ each other’s memory from their mind, through a medical procedure. What happens when they meet again? We learn about their past as the non-linear story progresses.   As the tagline says ” You can erase someone from your memory, getting them out of your heart is another story.

The title comes from Alexander Pope’s 1717 poem “Eloisa to Abelard,” the sad lament of a woman, remembering her impossible love for Abelard many years before.
