Goa’s renowned fashion designer and Padma Shri awardee Wendell Rodricks has written a letter to President of India Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and requested their intervention to save a 100-year-old chapel in Colvale village from demolition.

Rodricks wrote letters to Kovind and Modi earlier this week, saying he came to know that St Anthony’s Chapel at Colvale village would be demolished to widen National Highway No. 17 passing through the area.

Rodricks in his letter mentioned that- “this is illegal and in violation of the Supreme Court order that a religious structure over 100 years’ old cannot be demolished. The ruling was enforced after the Babri Masjid demolition.”

Several villagers have also signed the letter against the demolition.
