TNV: When and how did you begin modelling? Were you studying or working before then?
SA: I was working with Seventy EMG who handles production for Lakme Fashion Week and I was a part of the production team for 3 consecutive years which included 6 seasons of LFW. Working at the backstage and with every season my interest towards modelling increased and I started developing myself for the role. I began as a fitness athlete and then with all the encouragement and success in the field, I decided to take this a step ahead and start modelling.
TNV: Why modelling when you could have settled in for a more stable permanent career?
SA: I believe Modelling is a field that can be done with any other professional field if one knows how to handle both. I am an event planner by profession and modelling is something I see as my passion.
TNV: Tell me about your first assignment,if any, and how did it happen? What was the experience like?
SA: My first modelling assignment was for a Sports wear brand named Zerofux. Once while working out at my gym, a fashion photographer from Paris happened to notice me and my physique and approached me for a print shoot. Knowing that this could be a good start to my modelling career I decided to go for it. During this shoot, I was very skeptical about the outcome because I have always strived for perfection and did not want to let the shoot go in vain. But I discovered a lot about myself during the shoot, my confidence increased, my passion for modelling increased and also my picture was chosen for the cover page.
TNV: What do you feel makes you a good model? Your face? Your body? Your attitude? As opposed to others?
SA: My positive attitude towards everything and my physique makes me stand out from the rest. Apart from this, I am very disciplined, passionate, determined and have always worked on improving myself for the better. I always strive to achieve my goals and make sure I give my 100 percent to work for it.
TNV: Why Rubaru Mr india when there is so many local pageants happening ?
SA: Rubaru Mr. India is the biggest and one of the oldest male pagaent of India. They have been hosting this event on a very large scale every year and all the winners so far have been of a very different level. Rubaru Mr. India gives opportunity to represent the country internationally that no other local paganets offer. And representing my country internationally is my biggest dream.
TNV: Did Mr. India just happen to you along the way- or were you preparing to take part in the pageant?
SA: Modelling happened to me along the way. However, to represent my country internationally I knew the only key would be through Rubaru Mr. India. I wanted to be a part of it last year, but I wanted to make myself even more better and hence followed every minute detail about previous season and worked on myself accordingly and I think that is the reason I am one of the finalists.
TNV: Tell us about how you train for it. What is the regimen like? What are the challenges involved?
SA: Since I am a working professional, I have to mould my schedule in a way so as to not affect my diet and my fitness routine. I make sure I work out twice a day-before and after my office hours. I maintain and keep a check on my diet. I also make sure I spend a little time from my schedule to prepare for developing my personality and talent round.
TNV: What makes you feel you should be the chosen one? What’s different about you as a contestant?
SA: To win any pagaent or platform, only looks are not enough, especially when it is a pagaent like Rubaru MR. India where one is going to represent their country internationally and has to excel in every way. I am very strong, both physically and mentally. I keep myself motivated enough to achieve my goals. My educational qualification is strong and also my physique is my advantage. And I have always believed that winning belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.
TNV: How will winning the Mr. India pageant will going to affect your life?
SA: This pagaent is my dream and achieving this dream will be priceless. I will get a lot of exposure and opportunities to work in the industry and serve the country in many ways. I will want to be as an inspiration to many others who dare to dream and work towards achieving them.
TNV: What are your view on ‘Save Girl Child Campaign’?
SA: Firstly, be it a rural or an urban area, all the citizens should be educated about the importance of women because it is the woman who gives birth to the child. They should be taught to treat both equally. And more over all girls should be provided education up to a mandatory age and should be taught to stand for themselves so that even if the world does not change, she will stand strong. Awareness should be created among families where still giving birth or education to a girl child is not accepted.
