Panaji (Goa): The Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM) has dared Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to ban Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in Goa. The organisation’s remark comes in response to Town & Country Planning Minister Vijay Sardesai’s demand to ban VHP.
“Sardesai had told the media that he spoke to CM on the demand to ban VHP in Goa. We dare the CM to take this step,” GSM President Anand Shirodkar said at a press conference.
Sardesai had a month ago demanded a ban on VHP after its functionaries sought ban on beef eating in Goa in the coming years. Shirodkar said the Goa government which is led by BJP should not forget that it has come to power through the support of RSS and VHP. “BJP is in power because of strong support by RSS and VHP. VHP is not a terror organisation,”he stated.
Contesting yet another decision of Goa government to ban entry of Sri Ram Sene Chief Pramod Muthalik, the GSM has demanding lifting the ban. “Why is there a consistent ban on Muthalik and his associates to Goa? One cannot presume that they will create law and order issues… Government should lift the ban,” was another demand. The Goa police had been submitting report to the respective Collectors that the entry of controversial leader would erupt law and order problems in the State.
