Gunwanti Paraste (Pune): A large stock of Gutkha worth over Rs. 34 lakh was seized from a tempo in Pune and three people have been arrested in this connection. In a joint operation, the Pune rural police and the Maharashtra Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) seized three trucks containing packets of gutka worth Rs. 34 lakh 20 thousand. Today morning 11 clock police and FDA have been done the joint operation in Pune.
The manufacturing and sale of gutka have been banned in Maharashtra since 2012. The Wadgaon maval police arrested three persons. Police said acting on a tip-off, our official laid a trap and seized the banned material. The gutka was hidden inside the truck. It was after the tip-off by Pune FDA authorities and Wadgaon maval rural police that stopped the three trucks near the Old Pune-Mumbai highway on today morning.
The case registered against tempo owner Shrikant Bala saheb chandekar (age28, Residence Wadgaon) and three drivers also arrested by the police. About 200 gunny bags of Gutkha were found concealed in their tempo at the old Pune-Mumbai highway. A case has been registered under relevant sections of Indian Penal code, food safety and standards act 2006, and food safety and standards regulations act 2011.
This action taken by under the guidence of wadgaon maval police inspector pradeep kale, Assistant police inspector ganesh lokare and police constable deepak gaikwad, amol nanvare, manoj kadam and sachin more are involved.
