NO USE OF LANTERN KITES OR LASER BEAMS IN THE VICINITY OF AIRPORT; ORDERS GOVT

Panaji (Goa): In a bid to ensure safety of the aircrafts during its landing and take-off at the Dabolim airport, the State government has imposed two month long ban on use of lantern or wish kites or laser beams during the festivity in the vicinity of the airport boundary from today.

The South Goa district Magistrate through an order has imposed a complete ban on all such activities involving use of lantern kites/wish kites and use of laser beam with high intensity lights especially during festival within 2kms of Dabolim Airport boundary to avoid danger to the safety of the aircrafts during its landing and takeoff for a period of 60 days with effect from June 11.

“The Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India during its periodic meetings has raised the issue of use of lantern/wish kites especially during festivals in the vicinity of the Dabolim Airport which poses danger to the safety of an aircraft during its landing and takeoff,” the order stated.
