POLICE BUSTED BETTING RACKET, TWO ARRESTED

Gunwanti Paraste (Pune): In a major breakthrough, Pune police have arrested two local men for accepting bets on the match between India and South Africa which was held as a part of Champions Trophy.

Amod Bhagwan Khaldkar (28, Sadashiv peth, pune) and Siddharth Alias Prasad Sayajirao Hagwane ( 28, Sadashiv Peth) have been arrested under the Bombay Prevention of Gambling Act by Pune police.

Police stated that eight mobile phones, two laptops, one LCD, a set top box and other electronic equipments along with cash of Rs 1,18,800 was seized during the raid.

The raid was conducted by anti-organized crime cell (south)  when they received a tip-off about the betting racket being run from a residence in Narayan Peth, Pune.

According to a police officer “the suspects had taken a cable connection in the home and would watch ICC champion trophy in the evening. We found that suspects were also using a few Android mobile applications specially created for betting.”
