GIRLS OUTSHONE BOYS IN SSC RESULTS

Gunwanti Paraste (Pune): Like seen in the last 10 years, this year too girls outperformed boys in the SSC results that were declared by Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) today. The state overall recorded 88.74% pass percentage for the year 2017.

“Pass percentage of girls is 91.46 while that of boys is 86.51. The pass percentage of girls is 4.95% higher than that of boys. 676916 girls students passed out of 740139 who were appeared for the exam. And 781939 boys passed out of 903877 who appeared for the exam. We have been seeing this trend of girls outperforming boys for the last 8-10 years,” said Gangadhar Mhamane, chairman, MSBSHSE.

Overall 1644016 students appeared for the exam while 1458855 passed the exam.

This year’s result is 0.82% lower than that of the last year. 48,470 students got more than 90% of marks. 3,49,485 students passed with the distinction, 5,44,576 with the first class, 4,53,599 with the second class and 1,11,195 with pass class passed the examinations. 1,08,915 students got ATKT.

Konkan division recorded the highest pass percentage that is 96.18% in all nine divisions. Nagpur recorded the lowest with 83.67%. Mumbai recorded 90.09, Pune 91.95, Aurangabad 88.15, Kolhapur 93.59, Amarawati 84.35, Nashik 87.76 and Latur 85.22. But according to officials in SSC boards, Konkan records highest pass percentage as a number of students appearing for the exam is too low as compared to other divisions.
