Ramnathi (Goa):  All India Congress Committee Secretary Girish Chodankar has questioned the silence of Manohar Parrikar-led and Vijai Sardesai-participated State government over the hate speeches being delivered in the name of All India Hindu Convention which is currently underway at Ramnathi.

The statements provoking communal hatred are made during the convention. The state government has been a party to the entire programme by maintaining silence and allowing it to continue, Chodankar said.

He pointed out that Sadhvi Saraswati who has been called from Madhya Pradesh to participate in the convention has openly asked Union government to hang those people who eat beef. “Does she mean that Narendra Modi led government should hang Christians and several other people from other communities who have been traditionally eating beef?,” Chodankar questioned.

Chodankar has also questioned the entire logic behind raising issue of Hindu Nation by holding convention in Goa when the State has world’s best communal harmony record and has been home for all the religion including Christianity.

The Congress leader has also questioned Vijai Sardesai over his silence on the issue. “Vijai has been bragging of banning Vishwa Hindu Parishad if they try to stop beef consumption in Goa. Why is he silent over the statement promoting violence by Sadhwi?,” he said.

Chodankar said State government should have taken suo motto cognizance of the speeches and filed FIR for hate speech against Sadhwi. She should have been stopped from entering the State again and the organizers of such an event should be booked and forthwith stopped from holding such conventions in the State.

“Vijai has been completely saffronised due to greed of power. He has been a guided missile of BJP against the congress party. Vijai might show himself as a secular person who had stopped releasing of book on Nathuram Godse on Gandhi Jayanti. But his actions have proved that he is as communal as the BJP is,” Chodankar said.

“Vijai should stop fooling the minority community now and come out openly and admit about his saffron colours,” he said daring Vijai to come forward and order the chief minister Manohar Parrikar to file FIR against the preachers of hatred.
