Gunwanti Paraste (Pune): A 26-year-old man has been arrested for shooting at his 18-year-old wife in Pune. In what can resemble a sequence from Hindi blockbuster, a man who was on the run after shooting his wife with a pistol was chased and arrested by officials of the Chakan police station.
The accused is been identified as Vijay Ramdin Jathar(26) a resident of Chakan and hails from Madhya Pradesh.
Police sub-inspector (PSI)Shridhar Jagtap of Chakan police station said the incident occurred at around 9 am when the victim Kajal (18) who was on her way to buy something from a shop was attacked by Vijay with a pistol. “Vijay was armed with a pistol and a knife. After following Kajal he shot around in her chest and escaped from the spot,” added Jagtap.
Police said that the incident occurred at Shiroli Pait road about 12 km from Chakan.
While escaping the accused forced a two-wheeler rider to take him towards Chakan at a gunpoint.
Locals who witnessed the incident tried to chase Vijay but he shot another round scarring them.
The information was then passed to Chakan police after which PSI Jagtap, policemen Ajay Bhapkar, Chandrakant Gavari, Sandip Rasal rushed to nab Vijay.
The police officials chased and nabbed Vijay near hotel Goodluck. After the accused had shot two rounds from his pistol he was left with no bullets.”The accused had tucked the pistol in his waist. We recovered the pistol and a knife from him,” police said.
Vijay claims Kajal is his wife and the duo got married about nine months ago. “Vijay says it was his love marriage but the two are not in good terms and stay separately” added Jagtap.
Chakan police said that the couple is a casual labourer. Police said that Vijay will be booked for attempt to murder and Arms act. Kajal is undergoing treatment in a hospital.
