GUNWANTI PARASTE (PUNE): The Pune police have arrested two people for allegedly stealing two-wheelers. Acting on a tip-off, the Hinjewadi police arrested two men and recovered 33 stolen two-wheelers worth Rs 10 lakh.
The suspects Chandrakant Rajendra Gaikwad (29) and Vitthal Ashok Umber (32) have been accused of stealing 33 two wheelers. The accused would sell the stolen vehicles in the rural areas of Pune, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (zone-3) Ganesh Shinde at a press conference on Thursday.
During questioning, the accused admitted that they had stolen the two-wheelers from Hinjewadi, Pimpri, Bhosari, MIDC Bhosari, Dehuroad, Chakan, Khed, Khadak, Kondwa. The accused would steal the vehicles in front of company road side parking. Both accused are unemployed and used to steal the bikes for joyrides.
The investigation team comprised of Sr. police inspector Arun Waikar and police inspector (crime) Rangnath Unde, assistant police inspector Ganesh Dhamne, sub inspector Tukram Topane, police employees Anand Khomane, Sachin Ugale, Ashish Botake, Vivek Gaikwad, Mahesh Modak, Kiran Londge, Dhyneshwar Mule, Atik Shaikh and Satish Gaikwad.
