Reeling under pressure from within party, the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (˘GPCC) President Luizinho Faleiro on Friday tendered his fresh resignation before party national president Sonia Gandhi requesting her to relieve him from the post.

“As you may recall, I had my previous correspondence and discussion on June 5 pleaded for being relieved from the post of President GPCC,” Faleiro said in his fresh resignation letter to Gandhi.
The party president brought to the notice of the High Command that couple of senior leaders within the party had publicly stated that Congress will not win more than two seats in the 2017 assembly election. “On the contrary, the party emerged as the single largest party with 17 seats,” he stated.
“Now the same leaders are claiming that they can form the government in present scenario,” the former chief minister stated adding ‘some of the MLAs feel that my contrinuation creates a hindrance to the formation fo the government”.
“I would request you to relieve me of my responsibilities,” Faleiro stated.
For last over one month, after Congress failed to form the governemnt despite having the maximum number of seats, there has been strong resentment within the party on Faleiro. Of the total 16 MLAs, 13-14 have ganged up against Faleiro demanding change in leadership.
Faleiro said that after he was entrusted with the responsibility of taking over the affairs of the Congress party in Goa, he not only rebuild the party organization from scratch but also rebuilt it every congress block, district, PCC, frontal organization, etc.

“This lead us to gain the Goan voters confidence and hence we won the majority seats from just six seats in 2012,” he said adding ‘we would have actually got 21 seats had it not for the misjudgment and misguidance of some senior congressmen’.

The party president informed Gandhi that he has executed sale deed for a full fledged head office for party in North Goa, which will be operational from December 2017.
“It has been truely pleasurable learning process working in close collaboration with you throught the year in my stints in the North Eastern States of Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya,Mizoram, manipur, Tripura, Nagaland, Sikking as well as Karnataka,” he said.
