Panaji (Goa): Goa police have filed first information report against two ladies for blocking State health minister Vishwajit Rane from entering in his car during his visit to Margao town yesterday.

Margao police have booked FIR against Maria de Cruz (70) and her daughter Auda Godinho (age not known) for blocking the minister and also abusing policemen on duty.

The formal complaint was lodged with Margao police by personal security officer of health minister Sharad Chopdekar who has claimed that the ladies used abusive and vulgar language against the minister and policemen on duty.

“Both the ladies even went to assault the policemen and the security guards of the district hospital in Margao,” reads the complaint.

Rane faced ugly incident yesterday when he was on his tour to inspect the Portuguese-era building of district hospital. A lady was injured when iron railing had come crashing on her at the hospital.

In his complaint, the PSO has said that body the ladies kicked and banged the car.

The accused were apparently abusing the minister over his act of resigning from Congress party and joining BJP.

The complaint also mentions that “the daughter of the lady pulled the national flag and attempted to damage it and the pole which was mounted at the front portion of the official car.”

Police Inspector Filomena Costa said that the FIR has been lodged against both the ladies but they were not arrested as the investigation is going on.
