PUNE: Sleuths from the Crime Branch unit 1 have nabbed a 28-year-old man who used to snatch phones from people talking on roadside or on bikes. The police claimed to have seized 11 smartphones from his possession as well as a two-wheeler used in the crime.
The arrested accused has been identified as Mohammad Arif Mohammad Umar Zojhe, a resident of Kondhwa Khurd.
Acting on a tip-off received by Naik Sudhakar Mane, a trap was laid in Mangalwar Peth and he was caught when he had come to sell the stolen phones. The 11 phones are worth Rs 1.1 lakh while the seized two-wheeler is worth Rs 50,000.
DCP (crime) Pankaj Dahane and ACP Suresh Bhosale guided the investigation team led by police inspector Nitin Bhosale Patil.
