SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANTS OF MARGAO INAUGURATED BY CM

MARGAO (GOA): The 6.7 MLD sewage treatment plant of JICA and 20.00 MLD sewage treatment plant of Sewerage Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (SIDCGL) were inaugurated at the hands of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and PWD Minister at Shirvodem Navelim.

PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro, Chief Secretary Dharmendra Sharma, MMC chairperson Dr. Babita Prabhudessai, former Navelim MLA Avertano Furtado and others were present at the occasion.

The Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said, “when I went to Delhi, I got a lot of extra experience of the various sectors of operation and also a thumb rule for solutions which are technology, planning, finance, and execution.” “As far as the STP is concerned, sequential matching C-Tech technology was first used in Tonca sewage plant and it became like a pilgrimage where people came to see the tech. These plants have same technology and will purify sewage water to the levels of even portable drinking water” told Parrikar.

Addressing Saxttikaars, Parrikar said, “support of Goans is very important in all ways and I will make sure that all round development is done in Salcete without any discrimination.”

Meanwhile, the PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar said, “we had promised to complete this work two years ago and we fulfilled our promise. This is our attempt to solve the problem of sewage and the Chief Minister has helped me a lot in that,” said Dhavalikar.

Avertano Furtado, Babita Angle and Luizinho Faleiro called this plant as a great step to stop the unmanageable sewage and its effects on Ground water.
