Gunwanti Paraste (PUNE):  A 16-year-old dumb-deaf girl has been allegedly raped by a 26-year-old person in Kothrud, Pune. The Kothrud police have already arrested accused Sharul Islam Abdul Wahid Laskar alias Shahrukh in the matter. The victim girl is dumb-deaf and her father is also visually challenged due to which the accused took advantage and constantly raped the girl. The incident came to light when the girl got pregnant and her father realised that there is some problem with the health of his daughter, after which he took his daughter to the hospital for a checkup.

The doctor told victim’s father that the girl was pregnant. The girl revealed in sign language whatever happened with her, after which, the victim’s father rushed to the police station and lodged a complaint.

The police said that the victim girl lived in Kothrud slum area where accused Sharul Laskar also worked in a garage which is near victim’s home. The accused always observed the girl and knew very well that the girl belonged to a very poor family and her father was also blind and worked less, which prompted him to take advantage and rape the poor girl.
