Panaji (Goa): The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has begun tightening noose around all those involved in the multi crore illegal mining. After arresting mine trader Kancha Gaunder for iron ore theft, the investigation sleuths along with officials of mines & geology department visited Paikul-Valpoi mining site and Sacordem dump site on Friday.
The teams noticed dump handling activities allegedly in lakhs of metric tons but rain played a spoilsport leading to postponement of further inspection.
Gaunder is allegedly involved in transporting ore from these sites too. The Tamil Nadu native was arrested on Friday on charges of iron ore theft , damaging environment and risking public health. The case in which he is arrested also has former chief minister Digambar Kamat under scanner.
